Bandit, Toby & Joey’s Stories of Courage

Bandit and Joey were brothers that we got shortly after losing our dog Duke at 9 years old.  We hadn’t planned to get two more dogs, but as soon as we saw these two boys, we realized that we couldn’t possibly break them up and would have no problem finding enough love to go around.

Bandit was the more outgoing of the two, very funny and would do anything to get you to laugh and to notice him.  At the age of 12, Bandit died.  Sadly, it all happened so fast that the vet didn’t even have enough time to identify what kind of cancer was taking him away.

Toby, who was so handsome with his one blue eye and one brownish blue, was always very shy – the complete opposite of his brother.  He loved to give kisses, but wasn’t the clown that Bandit always was.  After his brother died, he missed him so very much.  At the age of 14, Toby also died of cancer.

My sweet Joey, in this picture with my other dog Maxie, shows the start of their close relationship.  Joey loved Maxie fro the very first day that he came into our family.  They say that we go through life and there may be only one that comes into our life that is our true love.  Joey was that to me.  He was my friend and my hero, actually saving my life in 2003 during a brutal attack.

Joey had mast cell cancer, and died just 4 months after I lost Toby.

Each one of these boys had such a unique personality and I loved them all so much.  Although time goes by, it is still so hard to be without my boys, but I know that I will see them again someday.
